Full Moon in Cancer

Full Moons are known to be emotional times. They’re all about releasing blocked emotions and letting go of what doesn’t serve us anymore. The first Full Moon of the year takes place in the emotional and sensitive sign of Cancer, which means we could feel a little more emotional and sensitive than during other Full Moons.

The Full Moon in Cancer invites us to reflect on our sense of belonging, our wellbeing and emotional safety, as well as our home and family. Questions we might ask ourselves are: - from a soul angle: do I feel a sense of belonging within myself? do I feel at home and safe in my own mind, body and soul? - from a material angle: does my house feel like my safe and warm place? - reflecting on family members and friends: do I feel safe with them? do I feel loved? do I have a sense of belonging with them?  

Since 9 December, Mars has been retrograding, first in Leo, then in Cancer. The Moon and Mars are currently conjunct in the sky, both in Cancer, which strengthens the Cancer theme of this current Full Moon. Courageous and assertive Mars doesn’t really feel at home in the protective and nurturing sign of the crab. This placement challenges us to slow down and reflect deeper on what belonging and emotional safety mean to us, leaving aggressive and defensive responses aside.
