While the Sun transitions from Gemini to Cancer, today also marks the Winter Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere and the Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. Wherever we are, and whether today is the shortest or longest day of the year, the Sun in Cancer invites us to prepare for a period of nurturing and self-care, and draws our attention to the home and family.
The Sun and Venus, currently both in Cancer, remain close in the sky until the end of June. This is an invitation to love ourselves more, to take care of ourselves and to make sure we feel emotionally safe. It’s ok to feel the need to choose ourselves first, and to do it.
Cancer also loves the family. Cosy and relaxing evenings with loved ones sound like a beautiful way to honour this sign’s needs. However, let’s not forget to tune into ourselves first, and to not hesitate to say no if spending time with loved ones feels like it’s too much. It’s about finding the right balance between hiding in our shell, like the crab, and inviting our loved ones in our home when we feel ready.
The Crab triggers our emotional world, so we might feel hypersensitive in the coming weeks. That’s ok, the best we can do is acknowledge the presence of these emotions. Repressing them won’t help. It’s time to feel what our inner world is trying to tell us.
